Jesus—the Source of True Peace

"You, Lord, give true peace to those who depend on you, because they trust you." – Isaiah 26:3, NLT

I discovered the secret to peace of mind some years ago as I was returning from a special mission to Korea. On the way home, I stopped in Hawaii and while there, I saw a beautiful sculptured statue of Jesus returning to the sheepfold carrying the lamb that had been lost.

Jesus' weary expression confirmed my belief that he had spent long hours walking up and down the steep slopes, through crevices and canyons, until finally finding the lost sheep.

What struck me about the statue was the peaceful appearance of the lamb that seemed to curl itself around the neck of the Good Shepherd. Its two front feet were folded gently, one relaxed across the other. You could almost feel the baby lamb still trembling and sense that his tiny body was still damp and cold. But as he relaxed on the shoulders of Jesus, he began warming up and a sense of calmness and security swept over him.

He was safe on the shoulders of the Good Shepherd. He had been lost, but now was found. Peace flooded his being as this little lamb returned to the fold.

The secret of real peace can only be found in Jesus, is born anew through his Spirit, and comes as the result of trusting your future to him. Yes, Jesus Christ is the source of true peace.
