SUNDAY'S MESSAGE
Perseverance Plus Possibility Thinking
Robert H. Schuller
"When people fall down, don't they get up again? And when someone goes the wrong way, doesn't he turn back?" – Jeremiah 8:4, NCV
A stock broker I know went through a very difficult time in his business. He lost almost everything he owned. During this time, he made a decision to practice possibility thinking and believed that God could help him.
The first thing he decided was that he had to find a way to feed his family. He had no money, but every day at 4:00 in the morning he got in his station wagon and drove down the alleys of his neighborhood picking up old newspapers from people's trash. In the evening, when no one could recognize him, he did the same thing. The first week he earned almost $70 collecting old papers and selling them.
Then he got his boys into the act. They went to apartment houses and offered to collect people's old newspapers. The apartment managers thought it was a great way to get rid of some trash. When this man told me his story, he was making over $1000 a month collecting old newspapers while still working at his brokerage office. When asked by his associates how he could be so happy all the time, he told them, "Because I practice possibility thinking and have faith in God."
The dynamic value of perseverance plus possibility thinking paid a good result for this man. And it will for you, too!
